Bouche à Z'Oreille 2022
Mineral-driven Pinot Noir from the rolling hills of the Auvergne. Pouring translucent ruby in the glass, at first the wine jumps at you with lots of tart red fruits before layers of salt, smoke and minerality begin to emerge – a textbook Auvergnat Pinot that captures all the things we love about the volcanic region. On the palate the wine is supple, with soft tannins and mouth coating fluidity. Pure, nuanced and elegant, this is a wine clearly shaped by the volcanic region from which it comes. Tasting great now, we imagine this will only get better with time – lay down if you can.
The only single-parcel cuvée that Camille and Mikaël produce with Pinot Noir from their Larrivas plot on the northern slopes of Corent. The vines here at grow at 380m above sea level on basalt. The fruit is destemmed and fermented in concrete, before being transferred to stoneware amphora to age for 12 months.
A bottle for those curious Burgundy lovers.
