The most boldly-structured of the Grange du Nord wines, Mitan introduces a wild-edged nose of Carignan to the Grenache and Cinsault, and brings a lightly vegetal, stemmy character from the whole bunches.

Giving the most textbook notes of the varietals in its expression, there are forest fruits, blackcurrants and spice, with a tannic structure that feels woven into the wine. At once more classical, but at the same time that rugged, ever-so-funky Carignan character is still at the door, gently nudging its way in to those crowd-pleaser qualities. A fine balance of structure and freshness, and an ideal steak frites wine.

The grapes were macerated together as whole bunches for 8 days before being pressed off to rest in steel tanks for 18 months, then bottled in the spring of 2023.
