Unmistakably Sicilian - this Nero dâAvola and Frappato blend screams sunkissed fruit, Mediterranean herbs and brine. The two varietals sit side-by-side in harmony - Nero dâAvola contributing spice, tannin and robustness while the Frappato contributes ease and red cherry frutiness.
This is a natural wine that feels resolutely Mediterranean, with plush tannins and flavours of ripe Southern fruits, flowers and wild, resinous herbs. 2023 certainly feels a little more compact and elegant than previous vintages, the perfect companion sitting alongside some rustic Sicilian food.
From vines planted over sandstone and clay, high in the hills outside San Michele di Ganzaria. The Nero dâavola is fermented on the skins for 2 months, then aged in old wooden casks for just over a year, whilst the Frappato spends around a week on the skins and was aged in concrete before being blended.
