A rare planting makes for a unique expression of Syrah, it's potential to display dark, charry fruit here feels enhanced with the volcanic influence. A wide-open perfume floats above a slick, glossy body that is dense with juicy black olives and blackcurrant. Less granular in texture than the other wines using indigenous grapes, it shimmers long into the profoundly mineral finish.

Younger at 20 years of age, the vines sit at 600 meters. The grapes were de-stemmed and macerated in steel for 8 days before 9 months ageing in old oak barrels. No additions were used at any stage in the process and the entire production was little over 1000 bottles.
