Ancestral Trepat 2023

Ancestral Trepat 2023

Delicate with pin-prick bubbles, ripe red fruit, fresh acidity and clocking in at very inviting 10% ABV - a no-brainer fizz for the season! Previous vintages of this fizz were much more pink, the current 2023 looking almost ‘blanc-de-noir’ in style, but with all the warming, ripe fruit of previous vintages. We always find that Albert’s wines offer incredible value for money, offering complexity, ripe fruit and freshness in equal measures. His Ancestral Trepat is, of course, no exception.

It's a grape we don’t see too often here - native to Catalonia and primarily grown in the Conca del Barbera, it's mostly known for producing light coloured, low alcohol reds and rosados. Here, the grapes come from Albert’s ‘Els Bordells’ plot. After hand-harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and macerated for about a day on the skins, they begin fermentation in stainless steel, and then bottled to complete fermentation, trapping the bubbles and creating a sparkler - à la Ancestral style!
