Pietre 2024
A briny, sharp wine of refreshment that bursts with salty lemon and grapefruit citrus and textured, peachy flesh. The vines in this particular parcel reach down to a layer of volcanic bedrock which binds all these fruits with an unmistakable aroma of bonfire smoke and lends some good tension to the acidity.Â
A 50/50 mix of Malvasia di Candia and Falanghina from vines planted over rocky limestone and clay at some 400 metres altitude in the hills of Cerreto Sannita. The grapes see a five-day maceration, drawing out some grippy tannins and leaving the wine a warm, hazy gold. Pressed off the skins into steel, the wine was bottled in the spring with no additions.
As with all of Antonio's wines, it is beautifully pure, light on the palate and feels nourishing and uplifting to drink.Â
